Pullman, Washington has many drug and alcohol addiction recovery resources available to those who need them. Whether that means attending a 12-Step group like Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous, or it means getting professional help. There are options that will fit everyone’s needs.
The reason why so many people do not get the help they need is because they do not know what else to do. A lot of addicts and alcoholics will simply continue to use because they feel it is their only option. Others will keep attempting to quit only to relapse, which only perpetuates the cycle of addiction. This also continually puts them at risk for a potentially fatal overdose or alcohol poisoning.
We feel that we are obligated to provide assistance to anyone who needs help overcoming an addiction. That is why we have created this guide for drug and alcohol addiction recovery resources for the Pullman community. It is our hope that this guide will be useful, and that it will shine a light on the types of resources that are available.
Please note that we have no affiliation with any of the organizations we will be naming. This is purely for informational purposes only.
Research has shown that when someone has peer support, it is easier for them to stop drinking and stay sober. That is the basis of Alcoholics Anonymous. AA has been around since 1935. The two men who started the organization were both alcoholics themselves. They saw a need for this type of program, and so, they created it.
Since AA was founded, it has grown to incredible levels. There are now meetings in just about every city in the United States. Also, the movement has reached overseas, and several other countries also offer people AA meetings as a way to stop drinking. It is a place where people can come and find friendship without judgment. They can get the support they need from a group of individuals who all know what they are going through.
There are plenty of AA meetings in Pullman to choose from. We have listed all of them in the area below.

Even though AA paved the way for 12-Step groups, it did not quite cover the needs of people with drug addictions. For a long time, they felt isolated because there was no similar organization to help meet their needs. That was why Narcotics Anonymous was founded. Just like AA, NA has also grown, and there are meetings all over the United States in almost every city.
One of the things that people often like about NA is the fact that anyone with any type of addiction is welcome to come. That includes people who are alcoholics, but that might feel more comfortable attending an NA meeting instead of AA. The meetings can be big or small, and they often center on various topics and feature discussions and special speakers.
A Pullman area NA meeting can be a great way to get support for anyone with a drug addiction. The following is a list of all the meetings in the local area.

When someone you love is addicted to alcohol or drugs, it causes all kinds of stress. Families spend all of their time worrying that their loved ones might overdose, or just continue to use and destroy their lives. Quite often, they end up feeling isolated themselves. They may be fearful about sharing how they feel with anyone within their circle of family or friends. That is what makes the work of Al-Anon so important.
This is an organization that was founded to help families. Like AA and NA, they offer weekly meetings where people are welcome to come and share. It is a place where a lot of healing takes place, and families can get the help they truly need.
Attending a Pullman Al-Anon meeting can be life changing. There are several happening every week in the local community, and they are listed below.

The need of young people with addicted loved ones are extremely important. Many of them do not feel comfortable attending Al-Anon meetings, which is why the organization created Alateen. This gives young people, teenagers and at times, older children a place where they can talk with a group of their peers.
Many young people do not know anyone within their group of friends who faces the same struggles they are facing. They may not feel comfortable discussing what is going on with their lives at home. Alateen gives them a much needed outlet.
There is currently only one Alateen meeting in the Pullman area. The information for this meeting is listed below:

Even though outpatient treatment can be beneficial, again, it is not always the right answer for someone with an addiction. There are those who need a higher level of care, and for them, an inpatient addiction treatment program offers them the most support.
Inpatient drug and alcohol rehab allows people to enter into a facility for a period of about 28 days. During that time, they work with a therapist, attend group therapy, and receive other types of treatment. This type of care is very effective for many reasons. It addresses both the physical and the psychological sides of the addiction, and it provides unconditional and constant support. The best programs are those that are tailored to the unique needs of each individual patient.
Withdrawal symptoms are what make it so difficult for someone to stop using drugs and/or drinking. In fact, some forms of withdrawal can be extremely dangerous, and even become life threatening.
An excellent example of this is someone who is going through opiate withdrawal after using heroin. The symptoms they experience are usually quite severe, and if not treated properly, they can quickly lead to a relapse. That is why detoxing is so important.
Going through drug and alcohol detox can make such a difference for someone in recovery. It can successfully treat their withdrawal symptoms and minimize them, making the entire process much more comfortable. It can also reduce the risk of potentially dangerous complications.
The next step after detoxing is to attend a drug and alcohol rehab. Many programs offer both at the same location, and this makes the transition almost seamless from one treatment to the next.
While people are in rehab, they will be able to work closely with their therapist. It is that person’s job to help determine what led to the addiction in the first place. It could be a number of issues, including:
Once the reason for the addiction is identified, healing can begin to take place in that area. The proper treatment can be prescribed, which will lessen the chance of a relapse. Patients will also learn how to avoid relapsing in other ways, and really set their sights on a plan to stay clean and sober.
As you can see, there are so many great drug and alcohol addiction recovery resources in Pullman. There is no reason not to get help, and all that is left for you to do is reach out and ask someone to assist you.
At Northpoint Washington, we want you to know that we understand how difficult that very first step can be. We know the fear that comes along with releasing your grip on an addiction that is actually strangling you very slowly. There are so many great reasons for you to reach out for help, and we hope that we have provided you with the information you need to begin your recovery.
We want to be here for you every step of the way. Our inpatient treatment program is among the best in the state. Together, we are convinced that we can help you get your life back on track.
Our admissions coordinators are here to help you get started with treatment the right way. They'll verify your health insurance, help set up travel arrangements, and make sure your transition into treatment is smooth and hassle-free.
