Moses Lake, Washington Addiction Resource Guide

Moses Lake, Washington Addiction Resource Guide

As the largest city in Grant County, it comes as no surprise that Moses Lake has its share of drug and alcohol addiction.

Opiates in specific are on the rise in popularity, fueled in large part to doctors over prescribing prescription painkillers. Many people consider prescription opiates to be more acceptable than hard drugs like heroin, which has opened up the possibility of abuse to much more of the general population.

If you or someone you care about is caught in an addiction of either drugs or alcohol, you may have questions you need answered. You may be looking for a good rehab to take that first step away from addiction. You may have achieved this important victory, and need to find ongoing support on the outside.

Our addiction resource guide has the answers to these questions, and many more. Helping recovering addicts and alcoholics is our primary goal, a path many of our staff have traveled personally. The information contained in this guide is designed to help make the transition from addiction to sobriety as smooth as possible.

Support Groups and Recovery Meetings in Moses Lake, Washington

One of the most helpful ways to keep sobriety going is the ability to interact with other people who are going through the same thing. While those closest to you are definitely not to be underappreciated, having a group of people to meet with who have felt what you felt is virtually indispensable. This camaraderie needs to be cultivated even after you return home from rehab or detox.

The best sources for this kind of support are the different kinds of support groups and recovery meetings found in most areas. Most of these have faith at their core, usually in the form of a 12-step program. The focus in these is to consign different areas of life to a higher power. The setting of these meetings provides an atmosphere that is extremely comfortable and relaxed. There are even meetings like this that are designed specifically for those who have friends or loved ones who are alcoholics or drug addicts.

The most helpful resource when it comes to beating alcoholism is undoubtedly Alcoholics Anonymous. For over seven decades, AA has provided meetings around the world that are a shining beacon to anyone struggling to put down the bottle permanently. AA was the first of all 12-step programs, and as a result has been able to fine tune their program to near perfection throughout the years.

There are numerous AA meetings located in Moses Lake, with several on each day of the week. No matter your schedule, there is likely a time that fits your schedule perfectly.

No matter how long you have attended NA meetings, there is always something new to learn each time you go.

Feelings of anger and frustration are common emotions that many loved ones of alcoholics feel. It is easy to feel lost, and have no idea how best you can help your addicted friend or family member. The ability to let those feelings out, and receive feedback from others in the same situation, can ensure that these feelings do not become overwhelming.

Al-Anon provides this environment, and has helped many spouses, siblings, friends, and parents to find peace in their difficult situation. As with AA, this comes in the form of a targeted 12-step program.

Rather than attend Al-Anon meetings with the adults, there is a separate entity for teens and young adults named Alateen. It can be difficult to get kids to open up about having a friend or loved one who is an alcoholic, especially in front of adults. Since Alateen meetings are made up solely of other kids, it is much easier for them to find the courage and comfort level needed to hold nothing back.

To find the closest Alateen meetings to Moses Lake, a trip out to Bellevue or Darrington is in order.
